Szofia Tölli: Theatre education:Charlie, the Crow Shows You How to Be yourself
in Magyar Nemzet, 20th May 2023
“Although the driving force behind almost all theatre educational performances is that the scenes are followed by interactive parts where the actors and the audience – the pupil – discuss the situation and look for solutions, Cahrlie the Crow is special. It does not need to squeeze an age-appropriate approach into a classic, nor does it need to fabricate a script for a contemporary problem. The team of Váróterem Projekt has used the basic material, Johanna Bertóti’s text (…) with a good sense.”
Erika Zsizsmann: When theatre helps us step out of our roles – new school performance presented by the Váróterem Projekt
in maszol.ro, 21st September 2020
“The most important feature of the show is that it is interactive. Not only do the actors often speak to the audience, but the performance stops at a certain point, the actors step out of their roles and act as moderators, encouraging the audience to talk about what they have seen, to analyse characters and scenes. This gives them the opportunity not only to compare the situation they have seen with their own experiences, but also to say what the performance has evoked in them. What’s more, the audience also has the opportunity to try out a role.”
Szilárd Horváth-Kovács: Charlie, the Crow: Where Are The Limits? We Visited The New Performance Of Váróterem Projekt
in Transindex.ro, 11th September 2020
“The virtue of the piece is that, in addition to teacher-student, student-student, parent-child, parent-parent relationships, it constantly reflects on talent, art, performance, the specific form of education through which the set of problems it addresses becomes more universal. There are, after all, human situations in which even adults do not always see where the boundaries are that should be jointly defined and respected.”
